API Calls to openstreetmap
Quote from Charles Banks on 2026-05-08, 5:17 pmI thought I had posted something yesterday but cannot find it now, so apologies if this is repeated. Because there is a higher caliber of technical expertise on this site I wanted to ask the following question on this group.
For various reasons, I have been monitoring API calls from RootsMagic to the various sites. One item I have noted that I just don't understand is why RootsMagic searches the openstreetmap site when the database is opened or closed. On average, there are over 100 calls made to the same png files every time. The maps all appear to be located in Europe and have nothing to do with anything in my database.
My concern on this is that these API calls sometimes "step on" other API calls which then appear to affect getting hints for people in my tree.
Thanks
Charles

Unfortunately, I can't really help.May I ask which network tool you're using?
