Bulk addition of people using custom utility?
Has anyone given any thought to the addition of people to RM from, say a spreadsheet (or CSV file)?
Getting most of the data into the tables shouldn't be a problem, but I see some issues-
* Dates and Sort dates- I don't have a util to create the RM format.
I could potentially save the date as a text date and then have RM convert it to a normal RM date via manual operation. (?)
* Denormalized data- would these fields be populated by recreating the index within RM?
Anything I missed?
Maybe I'm better off looking for off-the-shelf SW that would just generate a GEDCOM.

I think the spreadsheet>GEDCOM>RM route is the better approach. Let RM's Import GEDCOM procedure take care of the distribution and conversion of data.
Anyway, the SortDate conversion has been described at Dates - SortDate Algorithm and there are examples of usage under the hashtag #sortdate.
