Citation in Person & Events

Sometimes due to entering census facts via both RM7 Ancestry Hints and while in Ancestry.com hints, I will end up with a census record where the source is either a general person source but not an event source, or a general person source AND the census event source.

Is there a way to move the general person source to the appropriate event?

AND

Is there a way to delete all personal sources that are duplicated as event sources?

Moving a source from the person (general) to the appropriate event might be possible but it is likely tricky. You would need to get the Year of the Census from the source to be able to match it up to a Census or Residence event having the same year.
Deleting citations from the person (general) that are duplicates of citations for events is also tricky. It would be easier in a RM8 database after using its "Merge all duplicate citations" function provided the citations that have different media or webtags are sufficiently differentiated in the text fields. The RM8 database could be converted back to RM7. To do it directly on the RM7 database needs a duplicate search procedure for the person citations to flag those having duplicates. I did something related years ago in Citations - Delete Duplicates #citations #sources #duplicates. Perhaps it could be updated for RM7 and adapted to delete only the Personal ones.

Thank you Tom. I will test converting to RM8 and merging duplicate citations and then converting back to RM7. Jaime
