Detection of circular links
I have never had a problem with this, but I'm wondering about circular parent-child type links in a database. Anyone have experience creating them?
Do they cause GEDCOM export to fail? How about drag and drop of people in v9 and v10?
Does RM recognize them and complain?
Anybody written a SQL statement to confirm absence of circular links?

I have deliberately created them and have seen reports of problems arising from them. In some cases, the existence of a loop was apparent to the user but the erroneous link was not obvious. In others, it was something like a hung export that was the symptom ultimately traced to a loop.
RootsMagic does not prevent loops nor does it have any tool to identify a loop as a help in resolving the problem.
I tried to create a loop detector using sqlite but wasn't smart enough. "I'm My Own Grandpa" is still playing!
