Forum startup

Quote from Tom Holden on 2019-03-03, 12:11 amI've added a forum plug-in at the suggestion of @GlenB, the idea being that this is where a question could be posed or discussion started that doesn't suit a Comment on an existing blog post or page. I've no experience with WP forums or bbs's and chose this Asgaros plugin because it has high ratings, a fair number of users, signs of recent development and a $0 price tag.
Logged-in users can freely post (I think); others can see but cannot post or are moderated.

Quote from GlenB on 2019-03-03, 12:17 amThanks for the quick action to add this capability. Hopefully I haven't asked you to open a can of worms. I'll post a flavour of my current SQL issue with RM and see if anyone else can chime in.

Quote from Tom Holden on 2019-03-03, 12:02 pmIt's a feature that I wanted to add but was not ready to do so at site startup. And, yes, the first worm is that I did not receive your first posts to the forum. Which suggests that no subscriber to the WP site did, and from the looks of things, few have looked at the site since registering which suggests they receive no notifications of blog posts either. It appears that people have to elect to subscribe and that's not obvious.
Do you receive any notifications of blog posts, comments, even this reply to your post?

Quote from Deleted user on 2019-03-08, 10:11 amThank you for setting this up--the new Wordpress site and the forum. It's a lot easier to use! I'm familiar with using MySQL in phpAdmin, but I haven't spent enough time learning SQLite on RM. This new site helps enormously!

Quote from Tom Holden on 2019-03-08, 11:31 amThanks for the feedback, Karen. My SQL experience with SQLite has come in handy manipulating this site's WordPress database. It's good to have transferable skills!
One gotcha I've run into with this forum is that one can draft a reply without realising that you're not logged in and when you post it, the message goes POOF!
